1. Definition
This Application Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) defines how user information is handled by services (“the Services”) provided by GENNECT Cross for Android (“the Application”), a smartphone application provided by HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION. The contact address concerning the Privacy Policy is in Article 8.
2. Type of information acquired and method and purpose of acquisition
The Application and Services automatically acquire the following information for the indicated purposes:
(1) Information related to report creation
Description Functionality for creating reports sends the handset’s language setting, measurement file, and user-entered string data (such as the title of the report) to a server, which creates a PDF report.
Purpose The information is used to convert the information sent by the user to the PDF format based on the language setting.
(2) Information related to inquiries
Description The server acquires inquiry information sent by the user as part of functionality that allows users to submit comments and requests concerning the Application.
Purpose The information is used to respond to inquiries.
(3) Information related to functionalities and devices
Description The server acquires information of connected measuring instruments (model name, serial number, device name, communication type, firmware version, etc.), information on functions in use (function name, number of starts, file type, number of files, HIOKI's application software installed on the phone), information about the handset (handset model name, handset manufacturer, handset identification number, handset type, OS type, OS version, language used, country of use).
Purpose The information is used to respond to inquiries and to improve and enhance the Application and the Services.
3. Agreement to the acquisition and the use of information
When using the Service or installing the Application, please read and understand the Privacy Policy.
4. Permissions and purpose of use
The Application asks for permission to use the following device functionality for the indicated purposes:
(1) INTERNET (Internet access) This permission is used to acquire settings information used by the Application and the latest version of the user manual from a server via the Internet when the Application is launched. It is also used while the Application is running by functionality that allows the user to acquire a PDF report and send information related to inquiries.
(2) ACCESS_WIFI_STATE (access to the Wi-Fi network state) This permission is used by the Application to check for an Internet connection.
(3) ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (access to the network connection state) This permission is used by the Application to check for an Internet connection.
(4) BLUETOOTH (use of paired Bluetooth devices) This permission is used by the Application to communicate with HIOKI measuring instruments that are equipped with Bluetooth functionality.
(5) BLUETOOTH_ADMIN (Bluetooth device discovery and pairing) This permission is used by the Application to discover and pair with HIOKI measuring instruments that are equipped with Bluetooth functionality.
(6) ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION (access to coarse location information) This permission is used by the Application to record location information (latitude and longitude) in measurement files.
(7) ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (access to fine location information) This permission is used by the Application to record location information (latitude and longitude) in measurement files.
(8) WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (write access to external storage) This permission is used while the Application is running by functionality that allows the user to export measurement files to the handset’s internal storage or an SD card.
(9) CAMERA (access to the camera) This permission is used while the Application is running by functionality that allows the user to use the camera to take photographs.
(10) FLASHLIGHT (access to the flashlight) This permission is used while the Application is running by functionality that allows the user to turn on the light when taking pictures.
(11) VIBRATE (access to the vibrator) This permission is used while the Application is running by functionality that allows the user to vibrate the device when saving measurement data.
(12) WAKE_LOCK (maintain running status) This permission is used that allows the application to maintain the running state of the handset.
5. Location of the Privacy Policy
When using the Service and the Application, please read and understand the Privacy Policy. Method for disclosing the Privacy Policy The Privacy Policy will be available on this website.
Location of the Privacy Policy The Privacy Policy will be posted on the website that distributes the Application (Google Play). It will also be available on the Application’s “Other” screen (accessible via the “Privacy Policy” menu item).
6. Method of user participation
User participation in information used by the Service To stop use of user information, uninstall the Application. All information stored internally on the handset will be deleted. If you have used the export function to save data elsewhere, delete those files manually.
User participation in information used in advertising The Application does not display advertisements.
7. External data transmission, provision of information to third parties, and information-gathering module
External data transmission and provision of information to third parties Information acquired in accordance with Article 2 above is sent to a server operated by HIOKI or its agent and used for the purposes defined in Article 2. No information about the user is provided to any third parties, with the exception of HIOKI’s agents.

Description The module acquires information of the device (manufacturer, device name, OS, country/region of use, etc.), version of the Application, information of connected measuring instruments (model name, serial number, device name, communication type, firmware version, etc.), usage status of functions, engagement, and other anonymized information.
Purpose The information is used to respond to inquiries and to improve and enhance the Application and the Services.
Method of transmission, destination This information-gathering module will automatically send this information to Google LLC.
Presence or absence of provision to a third parties Information obtained by us through Firebase Analytics is not provided to third parties outside of our company.

(2)Crashlytics（Google LLC's Crash log analysis tools）
Description The module acquires information of the device (manufacturer, device name, OS, country/region of use, etc.), version of the Application, usage situation (background, etc.), the relevant part of the code that caused the crash, the cause of the crash, and other anonymized information.
Purpose The information is used to improve and enhance the Application and the Services.
Method of transmission, destination This information-gathering module will automatically send this information to Google LLC.
Presence or absence of provision to a third parties Information obtained by us through Crashlytics is not provided to third parties outside of our company.
